Adulthood is a wish that every young kid, including me, dreams about becoming as soon as possible. In my childhood, when my parents’ friends visited our house for lunch. They always spend some few minutes addressing about some of the issues they face which can include bills, loans, job security, salary or anything. It always made me wonder; do adults have issues? Because I always thought that being an adult is amazing. Young kids think adulthood as a great accomplishment. They think that grown-ups are very lucky because they can do anything any time. Adults can carry money, drive to any place and can even own things. On the other hand, young kids have to listen to adults and do everything they say. This process of following orders makes them think that adult life is fun and lucky.
But, the truth is that adults wish to become kids. The responsibilities, taxes, bills, and a challenging job makes an adult to think about their happy times in childhood. In “This is water” by David Foster Wallace, he illustrates the life of an adult which clearly shows how adults are frustrated about they life. He uses long sentences to create the feeling of frustration. He describes an average day of an adult when he says “you get up in the morning …. rush hour traffic” which is very true in life when you ask an adult about it. Indeed, this cycle of life, every day, turns them into no more than a robot or a machine. Therefore, adults not only have happy times but, they do have times which they are frustrated in their adulthood.
