Better: Think: Twice

“A woman is not a commodity or a toy of amusement but a real person who has rights of her own and deserves utmost respect”  

Women’s roles and thoughts in the past were never taken seriously. For example, Abigail’s eagerness to bring rights for women during the revolutionary period was an unimportant issue for Adams. At that time, women were just viewed as a belonging everywhere around the world. But I think that Adams should have thought twice, about this, before coming to a conclusion as women were responsible to successfully run the boycotts against the British and they were also responsible for making clothes for the Continental army.  

At the same time, women were being judged and stereotyped without thinking twice in the past as well. In class, this week, we read an article about the stereotype that women are talkative than men. The article gives a reasoning against this stereotype by conducting an experiment which shows how both men and women speak “16,000 words per day.” It’s interesting to know that it takes an experiment to prove that a stereotype about women is wrong. Or many people would take this idea that women are talkative for granted.  

In either situation, women are subjects of being irreverent in the eyes of men in the past. Women were neither given importance nor a second thought. But I think women have come so far building their own steps, breaking the limitations set by others and proving they are the best. I also think that if women were given equal rights, from the beginning, then they might not have wasted their time fighting for rights but may have soon become part of making the world a better place. So, it is important to think twice before judging women or women’s ideas or thoughts.
